Dedicated Servers: Cloud VM Servers
Powerful Flexible Cloud Servers running on a high-performance Microsoft Hyper-V High Availability cluster
with redundant networking and SAN storage.
True “cloud based computing” servers where you only pay for the resources you use, where your server runs
in a dynamic server farm, and where you can upgrade your server resources at any time.
With and without High Availability ("spare" failover server) options available on all servers.

High Availability (H.A.)
|
Not just the name of the Company!
With Cloud VM Servers, reliability is built in. A standard virtual hardware set ensures only
known drivers are loaded, reducing the chance of an OS crash. However even the best physical
hardware can sometimes have problems - this is where High Availability (H.A.) comes in.
With H.A. - virtual server placement is automatically managed on the underlying physical nodes to
optimise resources, and in the slim (but not impossible) event of a node failure your server will
be restarted automatically on another node. You need not worry about hardware failures again!
Obviously having standby servers "just in case" has a cost, and thats why H.A. (if you want it)
is charged at 50% of the base server price. This is so we can guarantee resources "just in case".

Console Access
Your VM Cloud Server can be rebooted, stopped, started and paused, or it's console checked anytime by using our
Hosting Control Panel, running on WebsitePanel.
If you need to mount ISO images or interact with the console itself, we also give you access to the
Microsoft
System Center Virtual Machine Manager Self Service Console (SCVMM SSC). From here you can access a fully interactive
console session if your Operating System becomes unresponsive.

Physical Servers / Why a "Cloud"?
All Virtual Machines run on a combination of HP ProLiant and custom built hardware clusters - these are the "nodes".
The nodes themselves run either Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008R2 or VMware ESX 3.5, and are managed by Microsoft
System Centre Virtual Machine Manager. The nodes are cross-connected to our HP StorageWorks iSCSI SAN, with dual
controllers, redundant PSU's, and RAID5 arrays with online spare disks.
"Cloud Computing" has many interpretations (depending who you ask). How we see it is your VM Server runs
"somewhere" in the cluster, it's physical location isn't important. Your server can also be moved round the cluster,
much like a cloud moving through the sky. "Clouds" are also shown in network diagrams to show complex networks, the
idea being when it enters the "cloud" it just works!
